Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Why do they call it "Red Rocks?"

The desert landscape is peppered with outcrops of Aztec sandstone. Over the millennia, exposure to the wind, rain, and sun caused the iron minerals located inside the stone to "rust," thereby resulting in striking orange, brown, and deep-red colored rocks.

Will I see the famous burros at Red Rocks?

We can't guarantee the burros will make an appearance during the day of your tour. They are wild animals and come and go as they please. If you are lucky enough to catch sight of the pack, be sure to keep a safe distance as give them plenty of space.

Can I go hiking in Red Rocks?

Yes, you can! Our hiking and walking tours follow a guided path through the area. You'll have the opportunity to stop and take pictures of the red rocks and amazing desert scenery.

Will it get hot during the tour?

Keep in mind that Red Rock Canyon is located in the desert. As such, it can get hot during the spring, summer, and even fall months. Dress appropriately for the weather and be sure to bring some sunscreen!

How far is Red Rock Canyon from Las Vegas?
